BOYS
Coach: Mike Banfield
20-21 Record: 9-6
The Mannford Pirates have the vast majority of the team back from last year and that give head coach Mike Banfield a reason to be optimistic. “We have four returning starters, led by a two-time Tulsa 7 All-Conference point guard,” says Banfield. “We also have all of our bench back from last season and those players got some valuable experience last year.” Leading the way for Mannford is a two-time all-conference player in point guard Tyler Day (5-10, Sr.). “Tyler is a bulldog point guard,” says Banfield. Day averaged 13.0 points, 6.0 assists, and 5.0 rebounds last season. Another key returner is Trestin Thurman (6-1, Jr.). Thurman averaged 12.0 points and 5.0 rebounds from his guard position a season ago. Jake Moore (6-3, Jr.) is also back after averaging 7.0 and 5.0 from his forward spot last season. Two other key returners from last year’s squad are guards Tyler Banfield (6-1, Jr.) and Conner Banfield (5-10, Jr.). Tyler averaged 6.0 points and 3.0 rebounds last season while Conner averaged 3.0 points and 2.0 rebounds last season. Other players expected to contribute for Mannford include Phillip Owens (6-1, Sr.), Nate Brinker (6-5, Sr.), Chance Ausbern (6-1, Sr.), Caleb McCrackin (6-1, Sr.), Caleb Hale (6-0, Sr.), Jordan Spess (5-11, Jr.), Kaleb Kindley (6-2, So.), and Cameron Rodriquez (5-10, So.).
GIRLS
Coach: Nathan Reed
20-21 Record: 4-10
With a young group of girls, Mannford Lady Pirates head coach Nathan Reed is excited to see how his team grows throughout the season. “We are returning a young core of girls that are hungry to show people what they can do,” says Reed. “We have big sophomore and freshman classes that will play a big role in the future of our Lady Pirates program.” Isabella Pehrson (5-11, So.) will lead Mannford on the floor. “She is a lengthy and athletic guard that can score at a high clip,” says Reed. “Isabella also brings high energy and a won’t quit attitude.” Kylie Hewitt (5-11, Jr.) is the most fundamentally sound and consistent player for the Lady Pirates. Brooklynn Ballard (Fr.) is an underclassman Reed is excited about. “Brooklynn is an athletic guard that has a lot of potential to help for the next four years,” Reed says. Other players expected to contribute for the Lady Pirates are Caitlyn Burk (5-7, Jr.), Brylee Ballard (5-7, Jr.), and Adalynn Tierney (5-8, So.).
