Ponca City Area Football “Super 7″ – Editor’s & Fan’s Choice – Presented By Tom Henley Shelter Insurance

These are the top seven players in the Ponca City area hub, ranked by VYPE editors regardless of position.

#1 Devin Zimmerschied – SS – Senior – Ponca City

In 2020, Zimmerschied accounted for a plethora of tackles from his strong safety spot and was big in defending the deep ball. Don’t be surprised with PoHi finds new ways to use his talents.

#2 Nate Collins – NG – Senior – Ponca City

A dominant player on the interior of the defensive line for the Wildcats, Collins is tough to handle and at 6-foot-3, 312-pounds, most will try and stop him with a double team.

#3 Aidan Rhodes – QB – Junior – Woodland

Coming into the new season, Rhodes looks to take the offense to another level for Woodland. With more experience Rhodes is quickly becoming one of the top players in the area.

#4 Cam Jackson – RB – Junior – Ponca City

Jackson rushed for over 900 yards as a sophomore last season and is expected to get his share of carries again this season. Speed, agility, and great vision makes him a threat every time he touches the ball.

#5 Daniel Harrelson – WR/S – Junior – Newkirk

One of the more athletic players for Newkirk this season, Harrelson will make a major impact on both sides of the ball. He is likely the go-to target in the passing game.

#6 Lucian McKinney – OL/DE – Senior – Woodland

At 6-foot-5, McKinney is a long defensive end and tough for slower tackles to handle. He’s also developed into a solid offensive lineman for the Cougars.

#7 Cutler Smith – TE/LB – Senior – Deer Creek-Lamont

A versatile player for Deer Creek-Lamont, Smith will play a big part on both sides of the ball this season. Look for him in the passing game and making plays at linebacker.

Based on fan voting in the Ponca City area hub, here are the top players at seven positions, as well as some runner-ups who are worth a mention.

Moore will be one of two quarterbacks that the Wildcats will use this season. He has worked hard in the offseason and is ready to see the work payoff.

Wide Receiver/Tight End: Jackson Rhodes – Woodland

Jackson is a solid all-around football player. He led the team in tackles as a freshman. He looks to be a big time player this year.

Gates is not afraid to get to work in the trenches. He will be a key player on the line this season.

Linebacker: Elijah Phillips – Ponca City

Phillips is a hard hitting linebacker that will help lead the Wildcat defense.
