OFFENSE

The Wildcats finished last season with a losing record. As they enter this new season, fourth-year head coach Scott Harmon says that while they are not set at quarterback yet, he expects a better season for his squad this year. “We will be a little more athletic, but not quite as big,” coach Harmon said. “Good team speed, especially on defense. The quarterback spot will be key. We will not name a starter until August. Tay Moore, Grant Harmon, Kaden Trammell, and Carter Hibbets will all see reps this spring and summer. Will have a new offensive coordinator and play-caller in Jared Green, who is a Rob Green disciple, so we may see the ball in the air a little more than usual. Finished fifth in three consecutive seasons so we are looking to get into the top four spots and get a home playoff game.” No matter who wins the quarterback position, they will have offensive lineman Tryceten Boyer (6-0, 256, Sr.). He started all ten games last season as a junior and looks to step up and make a bigger impact this year. The Wildcats will also have a number of skill players that the quarterback will work to get the ball to. Beau Brumley (5-7, 200, Jr.) will be at running back and will look to break some long runs and get to the endzone. On the outside will be wide receiver Gavin Cunningham (6-2, 190, Jr.), who has put in the work over the summer and is ready to be a key player on this offense. Kooper Rich (6-4, 250, Jr) moved into the district from Waynoka and will be a force at the tight end position.

DEFENSE

Last season, the Ponca City defense gave up an average of almost twenty-five points per game. They will have to lower that average in order to have a successful season with four 2021 playoff teams on their schedule. Gabe Roland (6-1, 200, Sr.) will be back at outside linebacker this season. Last year he led the team in tackles and will look to do the same this season. Joining him at the linebacker position will be Rayden Agee (5-10, 185, Sr.) and Jace Schneeburger (5-10, 180, Sr.). Both have had a solid offseason and are ready to play a role in this defense. Taking care of things in the secondary will be free safety Grant Harmon (5-8, 165, Sr.), who had the most interceptions last year. Defensive ends Lane Ramsey (5-10, 210, Sr.) and Hudson Haas (6-3, 215, Jr.) will do their work up front and wreak havoc on opponents and try to disrupt their plans. Assistant coaches this season are Mike Nordquist, Justin Roland, Jared Green, Steve Mc Henry, Marc Ryan, Brad Parent, Casey Love, Taner Williams, Jason Freeman, and Cody Campbell.
