VYPE visited with Stillwater’s Grant Gudgel about his experiences as a golfer.
VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?
Gudgel: Golf has taught me to have patience on and off the golf course.
VYPE: Why are you passionate about your sport?
Gudgel: I am passionate about golf because I have a goal of being the number 1 player in the world.
VYPE: Which professional athlete do you look up to and why?
Gudgel: I look up to Rickie Fowler because he went to Oklahoma State University, and has an amazing demeanor on the golf course.
VYPE: Who inspires you and why?
Gudgel: My grandmother inspires me because of how strong she is in her faith, and because she was an Olympian in women’s basketball.
VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation, where do you go and who do you take with you?
Gudgel: If I could go anywhere in the summer I would go to Hawaii to play golf with my family.
VYPE: Here is your chance to give a shoutout or say thank you to anyone you wish.
Gudgel: If I could thank anyone it would be my parents for loving me and helping me pursue my goal of playing on the PGA tour.
VYPE: What has been your favorite memory of playing?
Gudgel: My favorite memory of playing was definitely winning the 6A state individual title last year. Coming down the stretch in contention was very nerve-wracking so to get it done was very special.
VYPE: What is your all-time favorite meal?
Gudgel: My all-time favorite meal is the All American at Waffle House.
VYPE: Are you involved in any other activities?
Gudgel: I’m involved in lots of sports like pickup basketball, and I love playing pickleball.
