SSG Adam Reinschmidt – Oklahoma Army National Guard Spotlight

Originally from Burns Flat, Oklahoma, Staff Sergeant Adam Reinschmidt enlisted on the 21st of March 2007 as an Infantryman. Serving as an Infantryman or 11B, SSG Reinschmidt had the opportunity to deploy and serve overseas.

“I deployed to Laghman Province, Afghanistan in 2011 and 2012 with the 45th Infantry Brigade Combat Team,” said SSG Reinschmidt. “I joined as an 11B, Infantryman. I spent 12 years in the 1-179 Infantry Battalion before I became the OKARNG Recruiter for OSU.”

Being a recruiter for the National Guard gives SSG Reinschmidt the opportunity to take a recruit from someone interested in military service to someone who is shipping off to basic training and preparing to start their military career.

“I am able to give other people the same opportunity to change their lives like I had when I joined,” said SSG Reinschmidt. “It gives them the chance to get out of small town/large town Oklahoma. It gives them the discipline that most do not develop until they are older. It is a resume booster that gives them a stepping-stone towards a career path, above some others. It gives them a chance to get college paid for. It lessens the burden on parents having to keep them on their insurance. It does so much good for these high school students that it should be an option that everyone should explore.”

SSG Reinschmidt’s area of coverage is Oklahoma State University, Perkins High School, Glencoe High School, Yale High School and Coyle High School. Many recruits will ask the same questions before they ship off to basic training.

“The most common question is, how hard is Basic Combat Training? It is one of the hardest things you will ever do in your life, but once it is over, there will be no obstacles that can stand in your way because almost nothing you encounter when you return comes even close,” said SSG Reinschmidt.

With an office located in Stillwater, Oklahoma, SSG Reinschmidt is easy to find online.

“The best way to find information for some is the internet. Nationalguard.com or GoGuardok.com,” said SSG Reinschmidt. “Some people prefer face-to-face, so my second answer would be to my office at 211 South Knoblock Street, Stillwater, Oklahoma. If they wanted to reach me directly, my cell phone is (405) 886-7933 call or text. It all starts with a call.”

For anyone interested in jumpstarting a career path in the military or finding a way to get their college paid for, the Oklahoma National Guard is a great place to start. With various career fields and multiple locations in Oklahoma to serve, the National Guard is a great option for individuals to serve their country while attending college.
