Coyle Bluejackets Football Preview 2023 – Presented by Central Rural Electric Cooperative

Coach: MARCUS COOPER

6-5

OFFENSE

The Bluejackets are locked and loaded for the 2023 season with three VYPE Top 100 players back this season. Five total starters return to the offense and head coach Marcus Cooper is excited to get them on the field. Leading the way is Alex Jennings (6-0, 165, Sr.) at quarterback. Jennings rushed for 1,200 yards rushing and had over 400 yards passing. His production is crucial for the overall success of the offense. Look for the Bluejackets to line up in a double tight I and keep the ball in the hands of their playmaker. Also look for John Tarbox this season. Coach Cooper said Tarbox is becoming a more vocal leader every day.

DEFENSE

Five starters are back on defense including a pair of VYPE Top 100 nominees in Joaquin Amaro (5-9, 180, Sr.) and Xavier Amaro (5-10, 228, Sr.). Joaquin will start at linebacker where he made 84 tackles last season, while Xavier will start on the defensive line and see some time at DE. Xavier recorded 120 tackles last season in the 3-2 and 3-3 schemes the Bluejackets utilize on defense. The coaching staff consists of Ryan Weathers, Chris Jones, and Alex Koehn.
