There are two things that currently dominate the life of Nola Ross, a sophomore from Glencoe High School: FFA and softball.
Ross first got involved in FFA while in junior high and she has enjoyed all of the activities the program has to offer.
“I first got involved in FFA my 8th grade year. I show pigs, I’m on the officer team, and I give speeches,” said Ross.
The sophomore also participates in 4-H Club, National Honor Society, and she’s a member of the cheer squad. Ross said it’s easy to be involved in multiple activities at GHS.
“I go to a very small school, so I didn’t get an option and had to be in FFA, but as soon as I got in it and my ag teacher got me involved and I fell in love with it. I love going on trips with my officer team. Going to Indiana for national convention was my favorite thing, but officer retreat and state convention is always a blast,” said Ross.
Softball is taking up plenty of her time this spring. The second baseman and outfielder said she has a lot of fun playing with this group of girls.
“What I like about my teammates is how hype we are in the dugouts during games. My mom got me into t-ball when I was three which grew my love for the game. She has always pushed me to do big things and helped me do those things whether it was driving me to a speech contest after a softball game or taking me to a pig show,” said Ross.
Ross offers this advice to anyone interested in FFA.
“Don’t be scared to get involved. When given an opportunity jump at it and enjoy it take in every moment because they don’t last forever,” said Ross.
After she graduates from high school, Ross would like to go to OSU and become an Ag teacher.
