Morrison’s Callan Veit – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by All Around Cowgirl Boutique

Morrison High School’s Callen Veit is a member of the varsity basketball team and the FFA chapter at school. Veit joined the FFA when he was in the eighth grade. Now a junior, Veit said he enjoys the activities FFA has to offer.

“My older brother was involved in FFA, and my mom encouraged me to join too. I enjoy the many trips we take to various competitions and the time shared with my fellow FFA members. My favorite FFA competition is public speaking,” said Veit.

Veit serves as chapter Vice President and is involved in Public Speaking, the Agriscience Fair, Animal Science Quiz Bowl, and Farm Business Management. He’s also the Junior Class President and a member of STUCO.

“This is my fourth year participating as a science research intern at Oklahoma State University in the Department of Animal and Food Science. I am a member of the Morrison Academic Team and participate in the Oklahoma State Science and Engineering Fair. I am a student member of our school’s Safety Committee. I also a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes,” said Veit.

As a basketball player, Veit said the sport allows him to let go of all other stresses and just play the game.

“When I am on the court, all of my fear, anxiety, and stress goes away, and I am free to be myself. My coach always says, “basketball is a reaction sport, if you have to think about something, then you are already too late. The thing I love most about my team and teammates is that we all know what our role on the team is. Some of us are great scorers, others great rebounders or defenders. Or we might just be strong leaders and very encouraging teammates. Whatever it may be, we all know that we belong and are valued, and that goes a long way,” said Veit.

The junior said he plans to attend Oklahoma State University and is leaning towards a degree in Agricultural Economics and a minor in Food Science.

“My main goal is to run for Oklahoma FFA State Office,” said Veit.
