Perry Football Spotlight – Tajon Williams – Presented by Stillwater Medical Clinic of Perry

Athletes invest a lot of time and effort in order to be able to compete at the highest level they can. Even with all this work, unexpected bumps in the road can happen and cause a shift in plans. Tajon Williams was enjoying his athletic career before an injury gave him a new look at things.

“I had a knee injury at the start of this football season,” he recalled. “I missed six weeks, which ended up being five games. This made me realize that sports can be taken away in an instant and to make the most of what I have left.”

Williams is a sophomore at Perry High School. Along with football, he is also a member of the basketball and baseball teams. Away from sports, he is also a member of the Student Council and the National Honor Society.

Throughout his career, Tajon has continued to grow and become a better athlete in all of his sports. He has been able to do that because he has been willing to put in the time and stay focused.

“It takes a lot of hard work in order to be a successful athlete,” he said. “You also have to be dedicated and not just work when you want to or feel like it. Sometimes you have to make sacrifices to get where you want to be. The thing that motivates me to keep working is the competition and always striving to be the best.”

Someone that has had an impact on Tajon’s life is his brother, Dezmond, who has helped him become the athlete he is but is also a role model for Tajon.

“Dezmond has been a big influence on my life,” he said. “He has always been there for me and has always pushed me to be my very best. He is also someone that I enjoy practicing against because neither of us wants to be outdone by the other.”
