Perry’s Kinsey Proctor – FFA Spotlight – Presented by OK Ag Credit

Doing what you love is exactly what Perry High School junior Kinsey Proctor is all about. Proctor is a member of the varsity cheer team, student council, National Honor Society, the youth group at First Presbyterian Church in Perry and she is a member of the FFA at school.

Proctor said she joined the FFA when she was in middle school.

“I joined FFA in eighth grade,” Proctor said. “My mom was involved in the organization when she was in high school. It had a positive impact on her, so she encouraged me to join FFA.”

Proctor is proof that you do not need to show animals to be part of FFA.

“I enjoy being able to be active in my community through FFA. I also enjoy being more hands on in the class when we aren’t as able to do that in other classes,” Proctor said. “I do not show animals, but I love going to the shows to go cheer on my friends who show. I lean towards the leadership activities in FFA. I am involved in a few LDE events. I compete in the public speaking contest and the animal science quiz bowl. In the past I have done the creed and the open and closing ceremonies.”

Proctor is an advocate for FFA and anyone looking to join a group that is supportive and has a lot to offer students.

“I would advise anyone who is thinking about joining FFA to do it. Whether it is leadership, animal science, horticulture, or Ag mechanics, it is a great organization and it will open doors to many new opportunities for you,” said Proctor.

As a member of the cheer squad, Proctor spends a lot of time with her teammates in practice and at the games. It’s another group she loves being around.

“I love that cheer is such an uplifting community. Inside my team we are a tight knit group and push each other to set goals and work hard to achieve those goals. Outside of my team and in the cheerleading community, cheerleaders are just as supportive to each other. So many people outside of your team will cheer you on and be extremely kind. I am also on the Perry Lady Maroon golf team, and I love it just as much as cheer,” said Proctor.

Proctor plans to attend Oklahoma State University once her days at Perry High School come to an end.
