Perry’s Addison Farrar – FFA Spotlight – Presented By Oklahoma AgCredit

As a sophomore at Perry High School, Addison Farrar is making the most of every opportunity she has as an underclassman. Farrar is involved in several activities including FFA. She got her start in FFA like many of her peers when she was in middle school.

“I have been involved with FFA since eighth grade,” said Farrar. “My previous Ag teacher, Tanner Miller, is who made me want to be a part of FFA.”

Now in high school, Farrar enjoys being part of the chapter at Perry and is looking forward to another year of activities.

“What I enjoy most about being in FFA is being surrounded by good people and developing leadership and public speaking skills,” said Farrar. “In the Perry chapter, I’m involved with public speaking contests, and this previous year, I was a part of the freshman quiz bowl team.”

Even though she does not show animals, Farrar has shown there are plenty of activities someone can join while in FFA.

Farrar is also a member of the varsity cheer squad. She divides her time between FFA, cheer, National Honor Society, FCCLA and serving as a class officer. Being part of the cheer team is something special to Farrar.

“What I love most about my team and teammates is that we are always supporting one another with skills and giving each other confidence to succeed,” said Farrar. “What I love most about being on the cheer squad is, getting to work as a team to accomplish new skills.”

Farrar said she does look up to a family member who has been a huge influence on her.

“My grandpa is a big influence in my life, especially in FFA. For the time he was involved with it and how hard he worked and how far he went. I consider him a great leader and I admire his hard-working abilities,” said Farrar.

For anyone wondering what it would be like to join FFA, Farrar offers this advice.

“Advice I would give to someone considering joining FFA is to always be willing to put in the work needed for success and to be a leader among the chapter.”
