Pawnee athlete Matti Tucker recently completed an interview with VYPE.
VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?
My personal goal is to continue improving and be a state placer.
VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?
Making my it to state my junior year in shot put and it was my first year ever throwing.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
Jordan Goodvoice, because she was my biggest supporter and helps me improve my throwing with all of her tips and tricks. She also was the funniest person anybody could meet.
VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?
Competing alongside my brother and sister!
VYPE: Do you participate in any community service projects?
Yes some with my church and school clubs.
VYPE: What Clubs or Campus groups are you involved with and why?
FCCLA, FCA, Beta club, softball, powerlifting and track.
VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?
Track has taught me how to overcome adversity as well as overcoming fear.
VYPE: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?
The best advice I have ever received is to focus on self and setting new PR’s with each competition rather than worrying about the competitors I’m up against.
VYPE: Who inspires you and why?
My mom inspires me the most. She’s the strongest women I know and is a great role model for me and my sisters.
