Hi, what are you looking for?

Perry

Q&A with Perry’s Kaleb Owen – Presented By Seth Wadley Ford Of Perry

VYPE: Why are you passionate about your sport?

Kaleb: Wrestling has been a huge part of my life since I was little. I really don’t remember a time in my life before I wrestled. I don’t know if I would say I love it. Describing it as a love/hate relationship would probably be more accurate.

VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?

Kaleb: Wrestling has taught me how to work hard and push myself to new limits. No one wants to lose at any sport but with wrestling, every win and loss is personal. You can’t blame anyone else. It is 100 percent on you.

VYPE: When and how did you first get into playing your sport?

Kaleb: My dad started a wrestling program at Medford High School when I was four years old. He didn’t give me an option, but it was fun wrestling with my brother Kohl.

VYPE: Which professional athlete do you look up to and why?

Kaleb: Kyle Snyder – he has achieved the highest accolades in wrestling but has never lost sight of the more important things including his Christian faith and family. He has said that winning and losing does not define him as a person. I feel exactly the same way. I just want to do my best and whatever happens, happens.

VYPE: Who inspires you and why?

Kaleb: My dad. He has always pushed me and my siblings to achieve more than we thought we could. Both my mom and dad have been with us every step of the way.

VYPE: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?

Kaleb: I have received lots of great advice from different coaches and teammates but one piece has stuck with me from my coach, Ladd Rupp – “slow feet don’t eat.”

VYPE: What is your favorite part about representing your high school as an athlete?

Kaleb: Having the opportunity to wrestle for the most storied wrestling program in the nation and making my mark on the wrestling tradition.

VYPE: What has been your favorite memory of playing?

Kaleb: Winning a state title last year.

VYPE: Here is your chance to give a shoutout or say thank you to anyone you wish.

Kaleb: I want to give a shoutout to my family, coaches, and teammates.
