Stillwater Area Players and Underclassmen to Watch – Presented by Larry Gosney – State Farm

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Boys Basketball

John Martin – Carney

John averaged 12 points, five assists, four rebounds, and two steals per game last season as a sophomore. However, he missed the first 10 games of the season due to a broken wrist. He has the ability to get to the rim and really excels at getting out in transition. He has also spent a great amount of time developing his shot, which will make him even more dynamic offensively. John creates wide open shots for the team’s shooters and he has a knack for drawing the defense to create layup opportunities for the bigs.

Tucker Shepherd – Perkins-Tryon

Tucker will be a three year starter at Perkins and the returning Tulsa 7 conference Player of the Year. He has continually improved his game over the last three years, going from six points per game as a freshman, to 13 points per game as a sophomore, all the way to 17 points per game as a junior last season. He looks to have a big senior season.

Kyler Thompson – Pawnee

Thompson is an outstanding athlete and a great teammate. He works hard in practice and gives it his all in the games. He will be a key player for Pawnee this season.

Kenneth Newman – Yale

The Bulldogs will look to Newman for leadership this season. He will be a key to the teams success on the court.

Girls Basketball

Emily Parsons – Mulhall-Orlando

Emily has shouldered the responsibility of running point for several years. She led the team in offense last year averaging 12.6 points per game. She is a two sport athlete and has already committed to play college ball next year.

Kyndall Marshall – Perkins-Tryon

Marshall is a great kid that is not afraid to work hard and do what needs to be done to help the team be successful. She is a solid athlete that knows that game of basketball. Look for her to play a big role this season.

Kennedy Hight – Perry

Kennedy is a senior who is committed to play basketball at Northwestern Oklahoma State University. She is extremely athletic. Her freshman and sophomore years, she was the 400m state champ in track. Last season, her junior year, she tore her ACL in the fourth game of the season, but through the first three games was averaging 21 points. She is a great point guard with an extremely high IQ.

Aspen Clarkson – Stillwater

Aspen is an all-around great player. She has improved her outside shooting and has a chance to have a really great season.

UNDERCLASSMEN TO WATCH

Boys Basketball

Bo Ramsey – Carney

Bo is a hard worker and he averaged ten points, twelve rebounds, two assists, two steals, and one block per game last season. He is an outstanding rebounder and crashes the glass every time a shot goes up, and it creates easy put back opportunities for him on the offensive end.

Jace Myers – Perkins-Tryon

Jace found himself playing some last year as a freshman and had some really good moments. His game has continued to improve during the summer and into the off-season. He is expected to take a big leap forward his sophomore season and really contribute to the team.

Girls Basketball

Bella Porter – Perry

Bella is due up for a big year. She got some varsity minutes last season but she is expected to get more this year. She is a competitor and does what it takes to win.
