Stillwater Pioneers Girls Basketball Preview – Presented by Jeff Bryant Shelter Insurance

Coach: Marcus Klingsick

21-22 Record: 14-14

The Lady Pioneers advanced to the Class 6A basketball state tournament last season, but they were not able to complete their mission of winning the championship. The season, first-year head coach, Marcus Klingsick says that his squad has experience and skill and looks to work their way back to the state tournament. “We have several key players from last years state tournament team back,” Klingsick said. “The Lady Pioneers should have balanced scoring on offense and a strong commitment to being outstanding on defense. Our tough conference schedule should get us ready for a strong playoff run.”

Jacey Crawford is an outstanding player in the post. She set the school record for blocks in a season last year and looks to set the school record for rebounds in a season this year. She is working hard on her offensive game, but she is really good around the basket, and she is developing her three-point shot. Crawford recently committed to continue her career at Harding University in Arkansas.

A strong leader on the team is Sydnee Sisneros. She is definitely the glue on the team. Her teammates respect her and follow her lead. Sisneros is an outstanding three-point shooter.

Aspen Clarkson is an outstanding guard that can do it all. She can create her own shot, shoot the outside shot well, and can finish around the rim. A key player for Stillwater will be Christyona Harland, who is a very athletic and aggressive player that makes things happen. She attacks the basket on almost every possession. Harland is developing a nice three-point shot to compliment her aggressiveness to the basket. She is an outstanding defensive player that will guard the other teams best player and will dive onto the floor and take charge to help her team out.

The assistant coaches this season are Lisa Quisenberry, Kamdyn Klingsick, and Michael Davis.
