Stillwater High School junior Caeli Schaefer first joined the FFA when she was in middle school. Like many of her peers, it was her parents who encouraged her to join the organization.
“I first got involved in FFA my eighth-grade year. I always knew I wanted to be in FFA since I was little because my dad was the Ag teacher,” said Schaefer. “My dad encouraged me the most to get involved in FFA.”
Since becoming a member, Schaefer has taken the opportunity to get involved in many activities including showing her animals.
“I show sheep and cattle, I have competed in the agriscience fair, and I am currently on the vet science team,” said Schaefer. “This year I have three show lambs and one show steer.”
Schaefer spends the rest of her time in National Honor Society, SMAC, and is a member of the track and volleyball teams at Stillwater.
“My favorite thing about being on the volleyball team is the bond that we all have together. I know that if I need to talk to anyone, they will always be there for me. I also play club volleyball for Crush in Stillwater,” said Schaefer.
As an FFA member, Schaefer said she loves the opportunities offered to the students in the program.
“The thing I love most about being in FFA is the amazing opportunities it offers. I love showing but I also love being able to complete in the competitions,” Schaefer said. “I would tell a younger student that you only get out what you put into FFA so do everything that you can because it’s all worth it.”
Schaefer mentioned her mother as someone who has influenced her to fight and never give up. The junior is undecided on her future and is considering all of her option with another year of high school ahead.
