Stillwater High School senior Carsyn Berger is in her third season of golf for the Pioneers, and she is a member of the FFA chapter.
As a student-athlete, Berger believes there is no place like Stillwater HS, and she is proud to represent her school and her town.
“My favorite part of being a student-athlete at Stillwater High is the community. Whether I am in my sport’s season or off, I can always count on the people around me to build me up. My teammates bring me so much joy and laughter on the course. Everybody has their good and bad days, but my teammates always make my day brighter than when they start,” said Berger.
Berger was encouraged to become a member of the FFA chapter thanks to her father who was in FFA during his days in high school.
“I joined FFA immediately when I moved to Stillwater, my dad loved FFA as a kid, but they never had it at my old school, so when we moved, I wanted to do it. I’m so glad I did, the people I’ve met in FFA are so sweet and fun to hang out with,” Berger said. “I got to show chickens with my friend Riley Beatles for the first time this semester and it was really fun. In the past I would only go to watch and support, but it was fun to change it up. Right now, I am in welding class at the high school, and it’s been one of my favorite classes this year.”
On the golf course, Berger said the team is doing great and continues to improve.
“The team is amazing this season. I couldn’t have wished for any other girls and coaches during my final season of golf at SHS. Our team has improved and grown so much since last year, I cannot wait to host state and see how we will finish our season,” said Berger.
Berger encourages anyone interested in FFA to give it a try. The senior plans to pursue a career working with animals in college.
“To anyone who is interested in FFA—JOIN! I never thought I would be someone that would do FFA or in any part be involved in Ag, but it is so accessible to our students and the Stillwater FFA program is amazing. I’ve loved being a part of the Ag classes at the high school and I’ve learned so much in those environments. After joining FFA and being involved in the Ag program at the high school, I want to be a veterinarian. So, after I graduate, I am heading over to OSU and getting my degree. GO POKES!”
