Stillwater High School senior Jade Gosney is a multisport athlete, playing both golf and volleyball for the for the Stillwater Pioneer. Jade has a multitude of experience in golf and volleyball, having played golf for 6 years and volleyball 5 years. In volleyball, Jade plays the position of setter.
Asked what it means to represent her school and community, Jade stated, “I take great pride in being a Stillwater Pioneer. It is an honor and a privilege for me to represent my school and community”
When it comes to who Jade looks up to as a role model, she looks towards her teammates. Jade stated, “I look up to each one of my golf teammates. They are super talented and have a work ethic like no other which shows on the course. Their success and dedication to golf is unmeasurable.”
Most student have a teacher that has a left lasting impression on them. Jade stated, “For me, that teacher was Mr. Porter. He was my algebra III teacher. He was an awesome math teacher, and his humor made class so much fun. He cares about each student’s success in and out of the classroom.”
In terms of what it has taken Jade to become successful in sports, Jade stated, “I have spent more time on the golf course during the off-season this year, and have focused more on practicing with intention. Hard work, being physically and mentally tough are all areas I try to focus on to be successful.”
Many memories are made during the career of a student athlete. For Jade, there are not one, but two memories that stand out the most. “The highlight moment of my career was shooting a 79 in the state preview tournament a few weeks ago. Also, getting an athletic scholarship to play volleyball in college, stands out as well.”
After graduating from Stillwater High School, Jade will pursue higher education, as well as continuing playing a sport at the collegiate level. Jade explained, “After graduation, I plan to attend Oklahoma Wesleyan University to play volleyball and pursue a career in Physical Therapy.”
