Most people that choose to become teachers will say that their decision was impacted by a teacher that they had during their educational career. Whether it was in elementary school, middle school, high school, or college, they saw something in a certain instructor that made them decide that they wanted to enter that profession as well. Jodie Webber says that is what happened to her.

“I had two teachers that made a big impact on me,” she said. “The first was Wes Regher, my middle school Social Studies teacher. He made us think in very engaging ways and challenged us to learn both sides of the story before making a judgment.  He was an absolutely incredible teacher.  And the other was Mr. Barnstall, my high school trigonometry and calculus teacher. He made those classes so fun, even if they were challenging. He made us love the challenges.”

Webber teaches Family and Consumer Sciences to sophomores, juniors, and seniors at Stillwater High School. She has been teaching at Stillwater since the fall of 2017. Before coming to Stillwater, she also taught at Berryhill, Glenpool, Jenks Freshman Academy, Ripley, Guthrie, and Edmond Cimarron Middle School.  

Jodie and her husband, Ryan, have two sons. Cale is a sophomore at Stillwater high school, while Carch is an eighth grader at Stillwater junior high.

The teaching profession is one that Jodie loves and she says that it brings her so much joy to help the students in her room and watch them grow.

“It was the chance to do something with a lasting purpose, to get to teach a subject that affects your life moment by moment.  I found something I absolutely love and I get paid a little for it too. Giving these kids experiences in class that, if applied in real life, could change their lives for the best.  I absolutely love watching them experience and learn and grow into great humans.”
