Stillwater’s Macey Streeter: Academic Spotlight – Presented by BancFirst Stillwater

Macey Streeter is a dual sport athlete at Stillwater High School. She has worked hard to grow into the athlete that she is today but she says that she would not have been able to do it without some special people.

“My parents are the biggest role models in my life,” Streeter said. “They have always supported me and been in my corner. One of my teachers, Mr. Carley would have to be my favorite teacher. He created bonds with each student and helped them in different ways. He knew how to teach teenagers and I just really enjoyed him.

Currently in her senior year at Stillwater, Macey plays both basketball and soccer. Outside of sports, she also serves as vice president of the Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America organization, she is also a member of the National Honor Society and the BETA club.

The work that she has put in over the years has helped her continually improve. But she says it is about more than just the physical work.

“It takes a different mindset of never giving up,” she said. “You have to be a goldfish, which is having a short memory. My biggest motivation would be my teammates, knowing how much we have been through as a group.”

There have been a number of teams that Macey and her teammates have gone up against over the seasons. But she says that there is one victory that stands out as her favorite.

“Beating Southmoore at home my junior year would have to be my highlight moment,” she said. “It was a tough game but we came out with a win. I also tied the Stillwater single game assists record that game, which made it even more special.”

Streeter is thankful for the career she has had so far and she wants to do her part to be a positive influence on the younger athletes that look up to her.
“I am thankful to God for giving me the abilities to play basketball and be a part of this program for the last six years,” Macey said. “I want to be a good influence by being respectful to the other team and Refs, keeping a good attitude, and knowing who I am representing.”
