Stillwater’s Olive Price – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Stillwater’s Women’s Clinic

By Payton Moody

In the world of high school sports, certain athletes stand out for their dedication, skill and team spirit. Olive Price, a senior volleyball player at Stillwater High School, has distinguished herself with exceptional athletic performances and her positive influence on and off the court.

One of Price’s favorite coaches, Coach Kyle Liechti, has played a significant role in shaping her athletic skills.

“I learned so much from Coach Kyle just by watching him play,” Price said. “He taught me so much about the sport and everything I needed to know on defense.”

Though Price is an excellent player, volleyball takes everyone working together to achieve a common goal. Volleyball has taught Price valuable life skills, particularly teamwork and collaboration.

“Volleyball is not an individual sport,” Price said. “It has shown me how to be a team player outside of the sport.”

According to Price, her senior teammates have been the biggest supporters of her volleyball career since their pre-teen years.

“My senior class has always been my biggest support system,” Price said. “We’ve played together since 7th grade, not just for Stillwater but through club season as well. I couldn’t ask for more supportive girls.”

As an athlete, Price believes that programs are built in the off-season. This off-season, Price and her team have been hitting the weight room consistently to stay strong and healthy.

“We want to be at our best for the upcoming season,” Price said.

As she looks forward to the upcoming season, Price and her team have their sights set on achieving a winning record and building a strong program for the future.

This season, Price is excited about facing new competitors like Enid and Piedmont. “It will be an exciting opportunity,” Price said.

As she approaches the end of her high school journey, Price is considering her plans for the future.

“I’m still deciding on whether or not I want to play college volleyball, but I plan to pursue a career in dental hygiene,” Price said.

The Lady Pioneers kicked off their first matchup for the 2023 season against Deer Creek on Aug. 15.
