Blackwell’s Raegan Moore – Player Spotlight – Presented By Stillwater Medical in Blackwell

By Derrick Smith

Sometimes there are people that come into our lives and make such a huge impact, that when they are gone, their impact never fades. That is exactly what happened with Raegan Moore’s biggest influence.

“Coach Robby Wilson made a big impact on my life,” she said. “He passed away earlier this year from COVID. He helped me get recruited and helped me be the best player I could be. I wear a bracelet for him every game that says ‘RYR’,   Remember your reason.  That was his motto and I want to continue that legacy.”

Moore is a senior at Blackwell High School. She plays catcher and in the outfield for the school’s softball team. She first began playing softball when she was just three years old. But she has grown up playing it and loves to play the game.

Another person that has influenced Raegan’s life has been one of her teachers, Ms. Greer.

“She had taught me a lot of life lessons that I can use and carry with me long after high school. Things like always are responsible and always be accountable for your actions.”

Becoming the player that she is today has not been easy on Raegan, but she knows the more work you put in.

“There is a lot of things that go into being the best you can be,” she said. “A lot of hard work and practice. I also play on a successful travel team so that definitely helps me.”

Along with playing softball for Ponca City high school, Moore also plays club ball for Epic Fastpitch 18U National out of Norman. She is coached by Scotty Smith and plays alongside multiple other D1 and D2 softball players.

The hardwork that she has put in over her career has started paying off for Raegan. She has made the All-District team the past three seasons. And she has also committed to start playing softball at Northeastern State University.
