OFFENSE
The Chandler Lions are coming off of a solid season that saw them end the season in the third round of the playoffs with a 9-4 record. They return seven offensive starters, including Kaden Jones (6-0, 180, Sr.) who was just shy of 2,000 total yards on offenselast year. He is joined in the backfield by running back Casmen Hill (5-11, 180, Jr.). Two other targets that are back for Jones are Stefaun Mackey (5-9, 175, Jr.) at wide receiver and Dalton Fowble (5-10, 190, Sr.) at tight end. Holding things down on the front line will be Braden Redford (5-11, 220, Sr.) and Jacob Ostrowski (5-9, 220, Sr.).
DEFENSE
Like the offense, the Lion’s defense returns seven starters from last year’s team. Coach Jack Gray says that speed is the name of the game for his defense. “The main philosophy behind our defense is getting speed on the field,” he said. “Then we use that speed to pursue the ball relentlessly.” There is a host of linebackers ready to bring all they have to the field. Kyle Snodgrass (5-11, 215, Sr.), Carson Clagg (5-9, 195, So.), Mackey, and Fowble combined for 202 tackles, nine of those for loss, and two interceptions a year ago. With another season and offseason under their belt, expect to see bigger numbers this season. Drake Rodriguez (5-11, 170, Sr.) and Jarin Greenfield (5-9, 185, Sr.) will both be back monitoring the secondary and working hard to throw a wrench in the opponent’s passing game. Last season, the duo combined for eight interceptions.
