Meeker’s Breanna Pearcy – North OK Athlete Spotlight – Presented By Gordon Cooper Technology Center

By Derrick Smith

As Breanna Pearcy knows, just because a sport has a specific season, it does not mean that is the only time you can work on it.

“There is no off-season in basketball,” she said. “You have to always work on your weaknesses, watch film of yourself and see where improvement is needed. Practice on your days off and put in the work in order to be your best.”

Pearcy is a senior at Meeker High School. She plays point guard and shooting guard for the Bulldogs basketball team. She has been playing the sport for 10 years and says that she loves the game and competing.

Throughout her career, Pearcy has had a few people that she has looked up to and that have helped her become the player that she is today.

“My biggest basketball influences are Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, and Kobe Bryant,” she stated. “They are all extremely hardworking athletes who were always striving for excellence. Another person that has impacted my life is coach Brady Dukes. He made me feel so welcome the first day I stepped onto his basketball court. He leads with a positive example and encouraging outlook on the game. He has taught me to believe in myself and push myself to the limits.”

There have been some memorable moments for Pearcy throughout her career, but she says there is one achievement that stands out as her favorite.

“I was selected to be on the all-star team at the ORU team camp,” she said. “I was the first girl to score and I hit a college three-pointer. It felt amazing.”

Along with playing sports, Breanna is involved in other things around campus. She serves as senior class president, student council officer, is in National Honor Society, Oklahoma Honor Society, Vision Bank a Financial Leadership Council member, Academic Letterman Jacket recipient, and Meeker Girls State Representative.
