Mekhi Cameron, a sophomore basketball, was chosen as the Cowley Community College Spotlight Athlete of the Month for November.
Cameron averaged nearly 13 points per game last season as a freshman, where he shot 40 percent from the floor and from behind the three-point line, as well as 75 percent from the free throw line.
This season, Cameron is one of the best players in the Jayhawk Conference, as he is averaging nearly 19 points per game for the Tigers, who are receiving votes in the NJCAA poll.
His shooting percentages have improved drastically, as he is shooting 49 percent from the floor, 45 percent from the three-point line and 83 percent from the free throw line.
Cameron said Cowley has taught him to work even harder on his game.
“Cowley is a really good environment and community as well,” Cameron said. “Cowley has molded me and given me an even better work ethic. Coach (Donnie) Jackson and Coach (Roybell) Baez have helped me tremendously in becoming a better player and person.”
