Morrison’s Tyler Voss – North OK Athlete Spotlight – Presented By Stillwater Medical Clinic Of Morrison

By Derrick Smith

There are moments that happen during an athlete’s career that can stick with them for a long time. Morrison’s Tyler Voss says that his highlight moment happened last football season.

“We beat Wewoka 32-24 in the second round of the football playoffs last year,” Voss said. “It was great because we all worked hard and saw it pay off.”

A senior at Morrison High School, Voss plays both football and baseball. On the football field, he plays running back and outside linebacker, while on the baseball field you will find him behind the plate playing catcher.

Tyler says that this dad has been a major part in his development as an athlete and as a person.

“He has taught me a lot of good things,” he said. “Things like how to be a good competitor and also skills that I can use for the rest of my life. I am very blessed for everything that he and my family do for me.”

Another person that has been impactful to Voss’ life is MHS social studies teacher and coach, Hayden Garringer.

“Coach Garringer has taught me how to cover the flats and to be the best I can at everything, no matter what the situation is.”

Morrison head football coach Corey Bales says that Voss is a “great kid” and an important part of the Wildcats team.

“He is an outstanding and hard nosed running back,” the coach said. “And on the defensive side, he is a tough player at linebacker that does a great job of finding the ball.”

Over the years, Tyler has worked hard to put himself in a position to be the best he can when he steps out on the field.

“It takes a lot to be your best,” he said.”Hard work, dedication, and talent are all important to achieving the goals you have set for yourself.”
