OFFENSE

The Black Bears of Pawnee will return six starters from the 2020 season. They will run the spread and look to establish the run in order to burn you with the pass. Head coach Russell Cook is excited to have quarterback Jake Mitchell (6-2, 185, Sr.) take over the position. Mitchell will bring leadership and stability to the team. Another senior to watch on offense is running back Malique Barber (5-10, 180). Barber is a quick back who can outrun you to the edge or run through you. The offensive line may be the strength of the team with guys like Chuck Long (6-4, 285, Sr.), Conner Lieb (5-11, 285, Sr.) and Sutton Burnett (6-1, 240, Sr.). All three guys are tough and give the Black Bears a legit shot at a very good run game.

DEFENSE

With seven returning starters the defense could be the strength of the team. Look for a 4-2-5 scheme with an emphasis on stopping the run. Barrett Stevenson (6-1, 205, Jr.) is a hard-hitting linebacker with speed to accompany his ability to cover sideline-to-sideline. Nick Caesar (6-0, 180, Sr.) has good speed and covers a lot of ground quickly. Caesar is a downhill linebacker who tackles with purpose. Also look for Harlan Britt (5-10, 180, Sr.) at defensive end. Britt will set the edge, pressure the quarterback and force mistakes on opposing offenses. The coaching staff will consist of Daniel Kendle, Karey Jones, Jimmy Jestes and Faron Thompson.
