Perkins-Tryon’s Cashtin Craycraft – Athlete Spotlight Presented by Perkins Primary Care

“To be successful you have to be willing to put effort into the after-hours. If you are not willing to put in that extra time off the field, then you can’t expect to be better than the guy that is on the other side of the line.”

That advice comes from Cashtin Craycraft who has been a part of Perkins-Tryon football for 11 years. That adds up to be 96,426 hours of hard work and dedication for Craycraft – give or take.

Cashtin Craycraft is a senior at Perkins-Tryon. On a football Friday night, you could spot him as a safety or corner for the Demons. He also is an active golfer for P-T as well as a member of FCA and FCCLA. Cashtin says Mrs. Tyberg, his third-grade teacher helped him along the way because of the life skills she taught him.

His biggest role models are his parents.

“Together they believe in me so much that I think they are crazy,” he said jokingly. “They show me unconditional love and kindness and I strive to show them, and everyone that is close to me, how blessed I am to have that support. Life is not going to be easy, and someone out there wants what you are working towards. They could have more talent and put in the same number of hours just like you have, so never let someone outwork you. “

Cashtin’s highlight moment in his career has been being part of the close football community, coaches, and teammates.

“The brotherhood that is built in the P-T football program is scary,” he said. “Your goal should be to out-work and out-hustle. Never back down, no matter the competition.”
