Hi, what are you looking for?

Pawnee

Q&A with Pawnee’s Arianna Riding – Presented By Stillwater Medical Clinic

VYPE: What is your favorite part about being on a team?

Arianna: I love the team mentality that you are doing your best for your teammates and they are doing their best for you.

VYPE: Why are you passionate about your sport?

Arianna: Well, I guess softball would be because of my family. I grew up around softball. It’s a sport I’ve been playing for many years. Powerlifting was something new and exciting that I had never done before and only got into it during my sophomore year of high school. It was something I was just naturally good at, so I loved it.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you?

Arianna: Aly Blakey, she’s an amazing person. I absolutely love her. She’s an overall amazing person and teammate. She drives you to do your best and pushes you. She’s also very positive about everything. She’s made me realize taking a positive approach to things is better than going in upset.

VYPE: What is your favorite part about representing your high school as an athlete?

Arianna: Being a smaller class at Pawnee High School, there are not many girls that younger grades can look up to. Being in the smaller portion of the athletes in my senior class gives me a huge opportunity to be a role model for the girls growing in the sport. I want to show the younger girls to try their best in everything, be mentally tough, have fun in what they do, and do it with pride!!

VYPE: What has been your favorite memory of playing?

Arianna: It would have to be when I was in middle school and right before we were supposed to play, it started pouring down rain. Me and my teammates after finding out the game would be rescheduled decided it would be the perfect time to practice sliding. We played around for a solid 20 minutes before grabbing our stuff to leave. It was so much we just laughed and had a good time, we were sad that we couldn’t play but it would end up being okay.

VYPE: Which professional athlete do you look up to?

Arianna: I would say it’s Tamara Walcott. She’s the definition of a strong woman both mentally and physically. She’s a single mother of two, runs a business, and holds the heaviest deadlift in the world for women. She can do it all.

VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation, where do you go and who do you take with you?

Arianna: I would want to go camping at Yosemite National Park, it looks absolutely beautiful.

VYPE: Here is your chance to give a shoutout or say thank you to anyone you wish.

Arianna: Shout out to my grandparents for always being there and being supportive! Love you guys!

VYPE: What is your all-time favorite meal?

Arianna: It would totally be a torta. It’s a Mexican sandwich with steak and beans, lettuce, tomatoes, avocado, and green salsa nothing else can compare.
