Stillwater’s Jamie Mason: Mom of the Month Spotlight – Presented by Stillwater Women’s Clinic

By Derrick Smith

When a student decides to play a sport, they are not the only one that is affected by that decision. Their parents take on a lot more responsibility as well. They make sure that the kids get to practices and games and they ensure that they have all the shoes, uniforms, or anything else that their sport requires.

Jamie Mason says that while being a parent of an athlete can require a lot of extra time, she would not have it any other way.

“I am very involved in my kids’ life in general,” she said. “I enjoy traveling all over the state and even out of state to be at games or tournaments. It’s always important that my kids see my face in the stands knowing that I am there to cheer them on.”

Mason graduated from Stillwater High School in 2000. When she was in high school, she played basketball and ran track. She continued her track career when she went to college. Her three children seemed to have inherited their mom’s athletic genes.

“My daughter Jayden is a senior at Stillwater,” she said. “She plays volleyball, basketball, and runs track. She just signed to play basketball and run track for Southwestern Christian University. Keaton, my son, is a freshman at SHS and plays football. My youngest, Cooper, is in pre-K at Highland Park Elementary. He is excited to play football and wrestle next year. I also have a foster child in the fourth grade who plays football.”

Jamie is a regional property manager for CStar Management in Stillwater. If she has any free time, she likes to go to the lake, have a game night, or sneak in a date night with her husband.

Seeing her kids grow up in the school she did is something that makes Jamie the most happy.

“One of my favorite things is that my kids get to go to the same school I did,” she said. “They are even coached by some of my old coaches and people I went to school with. I have lots of pride seeing them wearing blue and gold.”
