Hi, what are you looking for?

Perry

Q&A with Perry’s Serenity Beier – Presented by Jeff Bryant – Shelter

VYPE: What grade are you in?

Serenity: Freshman.

VYPE: What sports and positions do you play?

Serenity: I play basketball and am in the band. On the basketball court, I play post and guard. In the band, I do color guard for marching season then play my clarinet during concert band.

VYPE: Who is your biggest influence?

Serenity: Ashely Hetherington because she shows you how she lives and I want to be like that. My grandpa because he had a relationship with God that was so great and I want to as well.

VYPE: What teacher has had the biggest impact on your life?

Serenity: My third grade teacher, Mrs. Kinzie, helped me with a really hard time in life. My parents had divorced and my mom got with this other guy and made the wrong decision and then we had to stay with our dad. I remember not seeing my mom much at all. I missed her and did not understand, but Mrs. Kinzie was there for me. Mrs. Kinzie also helped me get better at reading.

VYPE: What has it taken to be successful in your sports?

Serenity: Hard work, practice, and the want to be better. This summer, a friend and I are going to the YMCA to work on our shooting so we can get better.

VYPE: Is there an opponent that you enjoy beating the most?

Serenity: Chisholm and Blackwell.

VYPE: What has been the highlight moment of your career?

Serenity: When I made NCDA, which is an honor band, I was the only one from Perry that went and I felt honored to be the only one to represent Perry schools.

VYPE: What motivates you?

Serenity: The desire to succeed.

VYPE: Which teammate do you enjoy working against the most in practice?

Serenity: I do not have a specific person I like going against, so I would say the people that are better than me because it pushes me to be better.
