Stillwater Athlete of the Month – Sydnee Sisneros – Presented by Stillwater Women’s Clinic

There is someone in every person’s life that makes an impact on the people that we become. Their impact may not be major and they may not even realize that they are influencing people, but their influence can go a long way. Sydnee Sisneros has a couple of people that have helped shape her into the person that she is today.

“My biggest role model when I was growing up was Jamee Swan. She played basketball for the University of Colorado Buffaloes, and she was my idol,” she said. “She was always the hardest worker on the court and the most encouraging teammate. I dreamed of being just like her when I got older. I even wore her jersey number for a really long time. Today, my biggest role model is my mom. She is one of the most selfless and amazing people I have ever met. She spends her weeks volunteering at non-profits around town and her giving personality is what I admire the most about her. Her giving nature has been something that I’ve taken into my life and implemented in my college and career goals. I really want to do something meaningful for people and that desire has been because of the influence that my mom has had on me.”

As a senior at Stillwater High School, Sydnee is a member of the Lady Pioneers basketball team. She serves as president of the Beta Club and the vice president of the Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America. She is also a member of the National Honor Society, Key Club, and Stillwater Makes A Change.

Sisneros follows a number of people on social media, but she has one person that she enjoys following the most.

“My favorite person on social media is Kara Lawson,” she said. “She is the Duke women’s basketball coach. Her messages are always something that really make you reflect in on yourself and how you are living your life, both in and outside of basketball.”
