Stillwater’s Heston Thompson – Track Spotlight – Presented by Hideaway Pizza

Sibling rivalry is something that people mention when siblings do their best against each other. Though it can have a negative connotation at times, it is not always a bad thing. For instance, look at Stillwater’s Heston Thompson. He says that his brother is who keeps him focused and working hard.

“What motivates me most is my twin brother,” he said. “Our determination to better each other everyday keeps me on my toes.”

Heston is a senior at Stillwater High School, where he plays football and runs track.  He has had some memorable moments throughout his career, but he has a couple that jump to his mind as his favorite.

“A highlight of my career would be getting the opportunity to play at Oklahoma State,” he said. “Another would be running a 47.13 400m time at state.”

Throughout his life, there have been people that have made an impact on Heston’s life and helped shape him into the person he is today.

“My dad is my biggest role model,” he said. “For me, it is because of his ability to offer guidance, support, and values like discipline. A teacher who has made the biggest impact on me in life would be Mr. David who is my yearbook teacher. He has taught me many things outside the classroom to help with the real world.”

Thompson and his teammates face a number of different opponents throughout the season. But out of all of them, there is one that he enjoys getting a win against the most.
“An opponent I enjoy beating the most would easily have to be Choctaw,” he stated. “They are our rivals and it’s always fun beating your rival.”

Any time that he competes, Heston is always proud to wear the Stillwater uniform and school colors.

“Representing my school and community when I play means upholding the standards and values they stand for, showcasing sportsmanship, dedication, and integrity in every game.”
